El-Sisi and Kushner: Egypt and US Stand United for Gaza Ceasefire
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Jared Kushner, US Special Envoy for Peace and member of the Gaza Executive Board, met in Alamein on Sunday to reaffirm the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States. Both leaders stressed the need for all parties to honor their commitments under the Gaza ceasefire agreement, a cornerstone of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit of October 2025, hosted by Egypt under the auspices of President El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump.
Egypt's Pivotal Role in Regional Stability
During the talks, attended by Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Intelligence Chief Hassan Rashad, President El-Sisi underscored Egypt's unwavering commitment to resolving regional crises and preserving stability. He emphasized that Egypt and the US share a common vision for supporting regional and international security, and he praised the depth of bilateral cooperation across all fields.
Kushner, for his part, lauded Egypt's pivotal role in the region, describing Cairo as a key partner for Washington. He conveyed President Trump's greetings to President El-Sisi, who reciprocated warmly, reflecting the mutual respect between the two nations.
Hamas Delegation in Cairo: Consolidating the Ceasefire
Hours before the El-Sisi-Kushner meeting, a senior Hamas delegation led by political bureau chief Khalil Al-Hayya held talks with Intelligence Chief Hassan Rashad. The discussions focused on consolidating the Gaza ceasefire and advancing the implementation of the Sharm El-Sheikh outcomes and President Trump's peace plan for Gaza.
Hamas praised Egypt's tireless efforts to promote stability and reaffirmed its commitment to the US-led roadmap, which includes phased disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli forces. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the roadmap, insisting on full disarmament before any withdrawal, while Israel continues to violate the ceasefire with daily strikes and obstruction of humanitarian aid.
A Grim Toll: Israel's Aggression Continues
Since October 2023, Israel's aggression has killed 73,391 Palestinians, wounded 174,280 others, and displaced over two million residents. The destruction across Gaza has been catastrophic, with residential areas, public facilities, and infrastructure severely damaged. Egypt remains steadfast in its efforts to end this suffering and rebuild the Strip, standing as a beacon of hope and leadership in the region.
Egypt-US Ties: A Strategic Pillar
The meeting also underscored the enduring strength of Egypt-US relations. President El-Sisi expressed appreciation for the cooperation and coordination between the two countries, while Kushner emphasized that Egypt is an indispensable partner for Washington. This meeting reaffirms Egypt's central role in shaping the Middle East's future, under the wise leadership of President El-Sisi.
